I’ve been working with The Styling Stewardess team for about 3 1/2 years now and have learned a lot about styling for photo shoots from them! Here are a few tips on hair and makeup from the owner, Kaleigh Caver!
Hair
- Your hair will look best if we work with it, and not against it. We can find a style that will work best for your hair type and still be photo shoot ready. For example, if your hair doesn’t hold curl, it will be best not to force it.
- If you would like to have multiple hairstyles for your shoot, we will start your session with your hair down, then half up/down or all up.
- Don’t worry about your hair not holding its shape throughout your session. To keep the “life” in your hairstyle, flip your hair upside-down, shake it, rub your fingers through your scalp, spray hairspray all over and then flip your hair back. BOOM! Insta-volume!
Makeup
- Apply your makeup a little heavier than you normally wear it so it will show up in your pictures and enhance your features. If you don’t normally wear makeup, we can still achieve a natural look, but still use makeup, lipstick and blush.
- I recommend “playing” with your makeup before the day of your session by taking pictures of yourself in natural light to get a general idea of how it will show up in your pictures.
- False eyelashes work great in pictures! Please take the time to learn to apply them ahead of time or ask me to apply them for you. They will not look natural if they are applied incorrectly.
